A title earned, not given
Oustaad is a curated marketplace where parents find vetted, background-checked tutors who have dedicated their lives to a subject — in person in Northern New Jersey, or online.

For parents
Search by subject, budget, and location — or answer three questions and let Oustaad match you. Every tutor you see has cleared a background check and a human review.
Pick a subject and your child's grade, set a budget, choose online or in person — or use the three-question matching wizard.
See real credentials, verified reviews, hourly rates, and live availability. Only fully-vetted, admin-approved tutors appear.
Choose a 30–120 minute session, online or at a place you provide. Pay by card through Stripe — Oustaad never sees your card.
Reschedule, message your tutor, track each child's goals and sessions, and review afterward. Prepaid packages and free 15-minute consultations too.

We don't list everyone. Tutors are background-checked, admin-verified, and reviewed before a single parent sees them.
Most marketplaces are online-only. Oustaad supports in-person sessions across Northern NJ as well as video.
One account, every child. Goals, learning notes, and documents stay private and are shared with a tutor only when you choose.
Meet some of our tutors
Every Oustaad tutor is background-checked, admin-verified, and chosen for their craft — from every background, for families of every background.

For tutors
Your rates, your schedule, your clients — with payments, safety, and growth tools handled. For a 15% fee that's half to a third of what other marketplaces take.
Connect Stripe for payouts, clear a Checkr background check, and complete your profile. A human reviews every tutor before you go live.
A calendar-style availability grid in 15-minute blocks. You set one hourly rate — Oustaad never surges it.
Prepaid packages, capacity-limited group classes, multi-week courses, intro offers, and discount codes — all built in.
A shareable public page and QR code, a lightweight client pipeline with follow-ups, and a sick-day bench so a trusted colleague can cover when life happens.

The honest fee
Oustaad takes a 15% platform fee — and a third of that funds a scholarship pool. There's no surge pricing: your tutor sets one rate, and we don't raise it because it's Tuesday at 5pm.
Trust & safety
The marketplace is curated, not open. Vetting happens before a tutor exists publicly, and children's data is protected by design.
Every tutor clears a Checkr screening — criminal, national, sex-offender registry — before accepting a single booking.
An admin approves every profile and verifies credentials before they appear in search.
Kids have no accounts. A child's date of birth never leaves our servers; goals and notes are shared only per booking, opt-in.
Card data never touches Oustaad. Funds are held until 24 hours after a session, with a clear refund policy.
Inside the app

Whatever the tutor's hourly rate is — there's no subscription, no membership, and no surge pricing. Sessions run 30 to 120 minutes and the price scales with length. Packages, intro offers, and coupons can bring the per-session price down.
Yes — in person at a location you provide, or online by video. You choose when you book. Oustaad launches in Northern New Jersey for in-person, with online available more broadly.
Every tutor passes a Checkr background check and a human profile review, and uploads credentials that an admin verifies, before they ever appear in search. Six onboarding gates must all clear first.
Through Stripe Connect. A tutor keeps 85% of their rate; the session's funds release 24 hours after it completes and pay out to their bank on Stripe's normal schedule.
Cancel 24+ hours ahead for a full refund; within 24 hours it's 50%. Either side can also propose a new time — or a longer or shorter session — with the price difference handled automatically.
