Common questions

I'm a parent. How do I find a tutor?

Open the Oustaad app, choose I'm a parent, sign in with Apple or Google, allow location access (or enter a ZIP code), and you'll see tutors near you. Tap a tutor to see their full profile, subjects, hourly rate, and availability. Book a 60-minute session at any time the tutor has marked open.

I'm a tutor. How do I get on Oustaad?

Open the Oustaad app, choose I'm a tutor, sign in with Apple or Google, and complete the four onboarding steps: Stripe Connect Express (for payouts), Checkr background check (1–3 days to clear), profile (bio, subjects, hourly rate, headshot), and availability. You'll appear in parent searches as soon as all four steps are complete.

How do payments work?

Parents pay per session at the time of booking. Card details go directly to Stripe — Oustaad never sees or stores them. Funds are held for 24 hours after the session completes, then released to the tutor's Stripe Connect account. Tutors typically receive payouts in their bank account within 2 business days after release.

What's the cancellation policy?

Cancellations 24 or more hours before the scheduled session: full refund. Cancellations within 24 hours: 50% refund. No-shows: no refund. The full policy is in our Terms of Service.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, go to Profile → Delete account. Confirming will sign you out, cancel any upcoming bookings, and remove your name, email, profile photo, and chat history from Oustaad. Booking and payment records are retained in anonymized form for tax and audit purposes (required by law).
